Elena Rybakina Denies Filing Complaint Against Former Coach

Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon champion, has addressed the recent provisional suspension of her former coach, Stefano Vukov, by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) for a potential code of conduct breach. Rybakina clarified that she did not file any complaints against Vukov prior to his suspension. Rybakina and Vukov ended their professional relationship in August 2024, just before the U.S. Open. In November, she appointed Goran Ivanisevic as her new coach but reintegrated Vukov into her coaching team in January 2025. Despite the WTA's ongoing investigation, Rybakina has consistently defended Vukov, stating, "I always said that he never mistreated me." Vukov, who guided Rybakina to her Wimbledon victory, denies any wrongdoing, asserting that he has "never abused anyone." The WTA has provisionally suspended him, preventing him from obtaining credentials for its tournaments during the investigation. Rybakina expressed her dissatisfaction with the situation, emphasizing her desire to concentrate on her performance at the upcoming Australian Open. She remarked, "I'm not happy with the whole situation... My goal is here to focus on the matches. The tennis community has shown interest in this development, especially considering Rybakina's recent decision to bring Vukov back into her team. As the investigation proceeds, Rybakina remains focused on her professional commitments, beginning her Australian Open campaign against 16-year-old Australian Emerson Jones.
